Former Florida Gubernatorial Candidate Andrew Gillum Reveals He’s Bisexual

Andrew Gillum is making headlines again.  However, the headlines are not because he’s the Democratic front-runner in Florida’s race for Governor.   It’s because he’s a high-profile citizen speaking out alongside his wife 6 months after he was caught in a compromising situation in a hotel room in South Florida.  You can read here about the incident earlier this year.

Gillum and his wife R. Jai spoke to Tamron Hall on the season 2 premiere of the “Tamron Hall” show.  Before the show even aired in the Jacksonville area on CBS 47 at 3pm, this tweet sent shock waves.

Let’s be fair, Mrs. Gillum says he told her about his sexuality before they were married and they made a “covenant” with each other regardless.

But before that revelation he talked to Tamron Hall about the days and months following the 2018 election where he lost the race for Florida’s top office.    The former Tallahassee Mayor says he was drinking alcohol when people thought he was drinking coffee.  “I took to drinking at a level that I had never done before.”  Yes, he hid the drinking from his wife.   He says R. Jai “repeatedly” asked him to get help because she thought he was depressed.   Gillum used the words “fraud” and “stuck” when he described his life after November 2018.

Then came the big reveal in the tweet above.   He continues the conversation with Hall by explaining what he remembers from that night in Miami.  She asked Gillum about his “intention” when he went to the hotel room with another man.  The father of three didn’t clearly answer the question.   The talk show host says such in the after show below.

R. Jai then takes center stage in the interview.   Andrew’s wife of 11 years says she called him about “50 times” that night in March.   She says she never planned to talk about this publicly and especially didn’t think it was fair for him to reveal his sexuality.

This was a 4 hour interview.  Since “Tamron Hall” is only a one-hour show including commercials, think of what didn’t make the cut!

What’s next for Andrew & R. Jai Gillum? Only time will tell but it appears he isn’t ruling out seeking public office once again.

Check out the after show where an expert speaks on rebuilding trust in a relationship, what to do when a partner questions their own sexuality and what people are saying on Twitter about this interview.
