Mark Cline, 64, of Richwood, was relaxing at home when his dog began barking, WCMH reported.

“The dog started barking because he hears the car door close and then the doorbell rang,” Cline told the television station. “My wife checked the Ring cam and said, ‘There’s guys in suits out there.’”

One guy in a suit was Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine.

“I shook his hand and he said, ‘Well, congratulations. You won the million dollars,’” Cline told WCMH. “I opened the door and I yelled into my wife and said, ‘Cheryl,’ I said, ‘We won a million dollars,’ and I paused a second and said, ‘No, I won a million dollars cause you didn’t register!’”

Cline watched the drawing announcement live from his living room with DeWine and first lady Fran DeWine.

The Ohio Department of Health waits 48 hours to announce the winners of the drawing to verify the eligibility of the winner.

More than 3.3 million people entered this week’s drawing for the $1 million prize and more than 143,000 children between the ages of 12 and 17 entered to win the four-year scholarship, WBNS reported.

Sara Afaneh, of Sheffield Lake, won this week’s scholarship, WLWT reported.

Jonathan Carlyle, of Toledo, was the second person to win the $1 million last week. While she was out of town for her aunt’s wedding, Zoie Vincent learned she won the four-year scholarship, WBNS reported.

Cline said he had an idea about what to do with his newfound wealth.

“One of the things that has inspired me is the scholarships that have been given out for this, so I thought maybe some scholarships to people that are in need to further their education,” Cline told WCMH.

Cline said he was able to get the COVID-19 shot as soon as he qualified within his age group, the television station reported.

“Get vaccinated, get registered if you want to win,” Cline said with a laugh.

Ohio residents looking to opt-in to the final two drawings have until 11:59 p.m. Sunday to enter either at the state’s website, www.ohiovaxamillion.com or by calling the Ohio Department of Health at 1-833-4-ASK-ODH.
