ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATE: The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office says the missing 5-year-old girl and her great grandmother have been located near Savannah.
Original story: An 87-year-old woman and her 5-year-old great-granddaughter have been reported missing, according to the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office.
Earlier Thursday morning, a family member reported Lula Wise, the 87-year-old woman, and Asia Myers, the 5-year-old girl, missing after Asia did not show up for school. The family’s car is also gone.
“Yesterday afternoon was the last time that they were seen. We do know that she traveled throughout our county at various times throughout the night, up to 3 o’clock this morning,” Capt. Dean with the St. Johns Sheriff’s Office said.
They were last seen in the area of the 800 block of West 3rd Street in St. Augustine. In an update with the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, they said that the vehicle was spotted in Jacksonville, near Old. St. Augustine Road early Thursday morning. A photo of the two was captured at 4 a.m. Thursday morning at a store along Phillips Highway in Jacksonville.
Police are now saying the two were spotted on or near I-95 in Georgia shortly after 1 p.m. Police say that there are relatives in the state of Georgia and those relatives have been in contact with law enforcement in that county.
The car they are most likely driving in is a dark colored 2019 Hyundai Sonata, with the Florida Tag NAJJ74.
