JSO searching for driver who ran from scene of fatal crash in Murray Hill

JACKSONVILLE — UPDATE | Sept. 22

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office released new information Wednesday into a fatal hit-and-run crash in Murray Hill earlier this month.

Investigators on the morning of Sat., Sept. 11 a Hyundai Sonata ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle on Edgewood Avenue. The male driver ran from the scene of the crash on foot and was seen getting into another car nearby. The other driver died at the scene.

The getaway vehicle is now described as a 2016-2017 Silver Infinity Q50.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is looking for a man behind a fatal hit-and-run crash that happened over the weekend in Murray Hill.

On the morning of Saturday, Sept. 11 JSO says patrol officers responded to the intersection of Edgewood Avenue and Roosevelt Boulevard, where the crash occurred.

Police say the driver of a 2022 Hyundai Sonata ran a red light and crashed into another vehicle. The man exited the vehicle and ran from the scene, abandoning his car and the fatally injured driver at the scene.

JSO described the suspect as a Black male who is approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall.

The suspect entered a silver vehicle on Edgewood Avenue, possibly a rideshare vehicle.

The victim was transported to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.
