Jacksonville Aviation Authority preparing for holiday travel season

Ahead of the normally busy holiday travel season, preparations are underway at the Jacksonville International Airport.

Due to the pandemic, the Jacksonville Aviation Authority says you can expect to see some changes this year.

“Since the onset of the pandemic, we have been laser-focused on implementing the aviation industry’s best practices in response to COVID-19, and we are confident that we will still provide a safe and enjoyable journey through JAX this holiday season,” said Mark VanLoh, CEO of JAA, in a statement.

One of the biggest changes will involve parking.

JAA says it will open up Economy Lot #1 for one day only this year for Thanksgiving travel: November 25th from 6:00 AM-6:00 PM. If you choose to park there, you must exit by November 30th.

As for the airport itself, JAA says several restaurants in the terminal are open to customers, but there will be limited menus, limited seating, and modified hours.

Facial coverings are required for all travelers.

Holiday Travel and COVID-19 Prevention Updates

With aspects of airport operations modified in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Jacksonville Aviation Authority (JAA) wants to make sure all Northeast Florida residents traveling through Jacksonville International Airport (JAX) during the holiday season know what to expect when they arrive at the airport.
