COVID-19 Breakdown for July 31

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Florida is reporting 470,386 positive cases of COVID-19 in today’s report.

For a fourth day in a row, Florida has broken its single-day record of COVID-19 deaths. Today Florida is reporting 257 new residents deaths. This follows yesterday’s 253 new reported deaths.

St. Johns County reported 2 new deaths in today’s reported, ages 93 and 89. Clay County reported 1 new death, an 85-year-old woman, and Duval County reported 1 new death, a 61-year-old man.

Florida added 9,007 positive cases today. Locally Northeast Florida added 350 cases,

Duval County added 222 cases, bringing the total to 21,038 cases. The daily positive testing rate reported for yesterday was at 6 percent, following Wednesday’s positive testing rate of 7.8 percent. The positive testing rate for the last two weeks is at 9.6 percent. Mayor Lenny Curry tweeted saying that he wants to keep working to slow the spread and these numbers will keep declining.

St. Johns County added 48 cases, bringing the total to 3,216 cases. The daily positive testing rate reported for yesterday was at 5.4 percent, following Wednesday’s positive testing rate of 4.8 percent. The positive testing rate for the last two weeks is at 8.5 percent.

Clay County added 50 cases, bringing the total to 2,808 cases. The daily positive testing rate reported for yesterday was at 9.6 percent, following Wednesday’s positive testing rate of 9.3 percent. The positive testing rate for the last two weeks is at 9.9 percent.

Nassau County added 17 cases, bringing the total to 1,054 cases. The daily positive testing rate reported for yesterday was at 8.5 percent, following Wednesday’s positive testing rate of 7.8 percent. The positive testing rate for the last two weeks is at 8.6 percent.

Baker County added 13 cases, bringing the total to 356 cases. The daily positive testing rate reported for yesterday was at 6 percent, following Wednesday’s positive testing rate of 16.9 percent. The positive testing rate for the last two weeks is at 10.7 percent.

TESTING

All state-run testing sites in Florida, on the east coast, are closed down from Friday to approximately Wednesday because of Hurricane Isaias. Those sites include the testing sites at Regency Mall, Legends Center, the Target Parking Lot at CR 220 in Fleming Island, and the FDOH in Green Cove Springs. They plan to reopen on Wednesday at 8 a.m.
