Even if you aren’t into reading magazines you may want to snag the September issues of various journals making their way to newsstands.
This has to be the first time we’ve seen so much melanin on magazine covers. (No, I don’t have hard numbers for this but just think about it.)
It was last week when we got wind that Beyonce would be on the cover of Vogue’s September issue and not only was that a big deal but she was bringing an African-American photographer into the spotlight with her. It would be the first time a black photographer has shot for the cover of Vogue.
(Let that sink in.)
Well not only will we see Beyonce on the cover of Vogue but we’ll also see Tracee Ellis Ross, Yara Shahidi, Tiffany Haddish, Aja Naomi King, Zendaya, Lupita N’yongo, Issa Rae, Rihanna and Slick Woods.
These TEN ladies are on the covers of Glamour, Elle Canada, Ebony, British Vogue, Elle UK, Shape, Porter Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter and Marie Claire.
