Rickey Smiley’s Daughter: “I’m Terrified”

Rickey Smiley told the world Monday that his youngest daughter had been shot. Aaryn Smiley was caught in crossfire while on her way to do something normal, buy food.

Houston Police confirmed the incident happened Sunday night on the South Freeway to USA Today.

The 19-year-old shared a gruesome pic via Instagram stories of a blood-stained vehicle. She said in the social media post that she’s “terrified” that her parents can’t be with her “because of covid”.

The Baylor University student also said: “This is the most terrifying thing that has ever happened to me. I won’t be out of the hospital for a while nor will I be able to walk for awhile due to nerve damage. I’m so sorry if I can’t respond to everyone but please know I’m thankful for all of the messages”.

After the show Rickey kept everyone updated on Aaryn’s condition, finally sharing that she had made it out of surgery and she’s “doing great”.

The radio show host says he wasn’t planning to mention the incident with his daughter. Even after saying what happened he asked that prayers go out to families of the other young victims of weekend gun violence who have to bury their children. Smiley says it could’ve been him planning a funeral.
