A Different World Cast Reunites

It’s like your childhood has returned!

We knew them for many years as Dwayne Wayne, Whitley Gilbert, Freddie Brooks and Ron Johnson; Hillman College students.

But really they are  Kadeem Hardison, Jasmine Guy, Cree Summer and Darryl Bell.

The Hillman College foursome reunited, if only for a brief time, at the Home Depot “Retool Your School” event for HBCU’s.

According to their website the "Retool Your School" mission is:

The Home Depot strives to give back to our nation’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) what they have so generously given to the communities they are a part of: A strong foundation. Renewed purpose. Distinctive character. With support from The Home Depot, the grants awarded from the Retool Your School program gives schools an opportunity to make upgrades to their campuses.

The company awarded $360,000 to 9 HBCU's and some of the cast of A Different World was there for the celebration.

That had to be a nice surprise!

The positive portrayal of Dwayne, Whitley, Freddie, and Ron as young African-Americans pursuing higher education is something the students at the awarded schools are living in real life.

Congratulations to Jackson State University, Southern University and A&M College, Fayetteville University, University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, Tuskegee University, Claflin University, Lane College, Talladega College and Livingstone College.
